Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation: Fabulous or Faux Pas?

Here’s a review of the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation and recommended solutions on the most common complaints found online.

Let’s face it… A lot of us Huda Beauty fans are crazy over the latest products that are coming out from her brand. I still remember the olden days when it was just the gorgeous lashes, then one by one, Huda started releasing one gem after the other. Of course, like every other fan out there, I also get myself these products to use for myself, as well as for my clients.

As a professional makeup artist, I have been exposed to a lot, and I mean a lot of makeup products. That’s why I am still super amazed whenever I discover a new product that manages to win over the old, dependable heavyweight brands. I recently experienced this when Huda Beauty released her Easy Bake Loose Powder. You can read my comparison review HERE and see how Easy Bake managed to beat all the other powders I had.

While filming that same makeup look, I used the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation and I actually got several DM’s on Instagram asking me about it. Should they buy this foundation? Is it worth the money? How come there are a lot of negative reviews online?

Well, first and foremost, I believe that every woman is different. What works for one person wonderfully might fail when it comes to another. There is no one result so you really need to test it out for yourself.

But what I will do in order to help you out is relate my personal experience about this foundation by answering the common problems encountered. These are based on the many times I have used this foundation not only on myself but several of my clients as well.

Hopefully, this will help not only those deciding if they want to buy the product but also those who already bought the foundation and are having a difficult time making it work.

The Top 5 Complaints about the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation and my pro tips to solve them

Complaint: The consistency is super thick and does not spread on my skin well

I believe that it’s very important to stress that the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation is a CREAM foundation, and not a liquid foundation. The difference is that the consistency is thicker.

This confuses a lot of women, especially those who are used to liquid foundation because they become unsure how much product to use so they are either putting too much or too little. Based on my experience, one single pump can actually cover your entire face already and just adjust as you go along.

In terms of applying it easily on the skin, you need to prep your skin well with a primer or moisturizer in order for the product to smoothly glide into your skin. Use a primer suitable for your skin type. If this still does not work, you can use a moisturizer to mix with the foundation to make application easier for you. Be warned not to use something like Farsali, because in my personal experience, the foundation starts coming off.

Complaint: It leaves dry patches, settles on fine line and does not blur the pores

This problem is not exclusive on the #FauxFilter. I find that this problem occurs when using a cream foundation if the skin is not well exfoliated and moisturized. This is the reason why women with dry skin don’t like the #FauxFilter because they will surely face this problem especially if they do not take the time to really exfoliate and moisturize.

Another reason that can cause this problem is incorrect application techniques. If you have textured skin, fine lines and large pores, use a brush or sponge to pat product into your skin and blend carefully, instead of gliding the product into your skin. If you suffer from extra dry skin or flakiness, avoid harshly buffing the foundation in a circular motion.

**Use proper tools and don’t buff heavily for textured skin.**

Complaint: It looks cakey and heavy on the skin

The #FauxFilter is highly pigmented and gives you full coverage. These are two features that I actually love about this product. But this also means that in using the product, you don’t need too much in order to fully cover your face. Again, this is a cream foundation so if you put too much product, for sure it will look cakey.

In using this product, don’t compare it to other liquid foundation you have. Just start with a single pump and you will see that it is enough for full coverage. You can always build up and add more, but it’s harder to scale down when you already put too much.

As suggested you can also mix with a moisturizer so it will be lighter in terms of finish

Complaint: It stays wet on the skin

Again, this problem will occur if you are putting too much product on your face. Another reason is if you have super oily skin and put too much primer or moisturizer before putting on the foundation. Also, just wait a few minutes as it will dry off after some time.

Even though this foundation is supposed to be matte, it is always smart to set this foundation with a loose powder like the Easy Bake to make sure it stays on your face. This is especially important if you live in humid or warm weather countries.

Complaint: It oxidizes after two or three hours

Oxidizing of makeup is a common problem especially for people with oily skin. Oxidation occurs as the product reacts with your skin’s natural oils and the weather. This can cause makeup to look darker on your skin after a few hours.

One easy solution is to use a primer so that you have a layer between the foundation and your skin. This will form as a barrier to avoid oxidation. Make sure to use a primer that suits your skin type!

Another additional tip is also to set with a loose powder and then use a blotting tissue to keep the oils away.

MY FINAL THOUGHTS

The first time I tested the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter I also thought at first that I will not like it. However, after using it for a few times, I started to appreciate how great it is.

I recommend this foundation as a FABULOUS product to use if you are planning to be photographed – like photo shoots or if you will be under a lot of lights. The full coverage is really incomparable.

If you are not someone who goes out with full coverage makeup every day, then I do not recommend this as a daily makeup. It’s more of a special occasion makeup that you want to use when you really have a lot of time to prep your skin

If you don’t like heavy or full matte coverage, then this is not for you.

Because of its formula, I have to say that it can be difficult for some women especially beginners to become comfortable in using this product as it does not act the same way as a normal liquid foundation.If you’re a makeup newbie, I have to warn you that you may need practice before nailing the right amount to use and the right way to apply this product to maximize its best qualities.

I tested the Huda Beauty Easy Bake versus all the other powder brands including Ben Nye, Chanel, Kryolan, Laura Mercier and Charlotte Tilbury…and here’s what I think!

The Huda Beauty Easy Bake is one of the hottest makeup products this summer. It has received super rave reviews from makeup lovers all over the world. In fact, I myself loved the product very much and you can read here why I think it’s the perfect summer beauty product for every Dubai gal.

Some of my blog readers and Instagram followers however were interested to know how the Huda Beauty Easy Bake compares to all the other existing powder in the market, so the best way to know the difference is to test and compare all these products that I currently use.

Before I go into a head to head comparison, I also am showing you the side by side comparison of these powders so please note that I have specified the shade and brand so you can visually compare them. Note that I will NOT compare based on PRICING, instead will compare based on performance.

Ben Nye Luxury Powder VS Huda Beauty Easy Bake

Since I have the Huda Beauty Banana Bread, I have compared this to the Ben Nye Banana Powder. The Ben Nye is quite popular and have been used by Kim Kardashian as well as Huda Kattan herself for baking.

The Ben Nye Banana powder is much yellower than the Huda Beauty Easy Bake’s Banana Bread version. Huda Beauty is also much softer and silkier and has very tiny shiny particles. Although both powders are matte finish, Ben Nye is more matte, while Huda Beauty still gives that very, very slight reflective effect.

In terms of being long wearing, these two are almost the same as I have both use them for many hours without fail. However, in terms of appearance, Huda Beauty looks more like skin and feels light as air when applied.

WINNER: Huda Beauty Easy Bake

Chanel Natural Finish Loose Powder VS Huda Beauty Easy Bake

The Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre is one of my favorite powders so it was interesting for me to compare it side by side with Huda Beauty Easy Bake.

While applying both, I felt that both had silky smooth texture, both also had light reflective pigments, and both had a slight fragrance, although Huda Beauty is a little more “perfumey” than Chanel.

Chanel did have a peachy tone which is slightly darker In effect than Huda Beauty. However, aside from the color tone difference, both products were so close to determine a winner as the finished looks are almost identical!

WINNER: It’s a Tie!

Kryolan Fixing Powder VS Huda Beauty Easy Bake

The Kryolan Derma Color Waterproof Fixing Powder is used by a lot of makeup artists especially if they want to really set makeup and make it smudge and sweat proof. This is actually available in 12 different shades, more than Huda Beauty Easy Bake’s 8 shades.

After applying the Kryolan Fixing Powder P3 shade however side by side by Huda Beauty Easy Bake, there were noticeable differences. First, the tone of Kryolan has a more pinkish tone. Second, Huda Beauty looked more natural and skin like while with Kryolan, it really looked that I added makeup on top of my foundation. The Kryolan also felt drier after some time on the skin compared to Huda Beauty.

WINNER: Kryolan wins on the number of shades with 12 but in terms of application, Huda Beauty takes the trophy.

Laura Mercier Translucent Powder VS Huda Beauty Easy Bake

This is probably one of the most anticipated comparison as Laura Mercier is a favorite by a lot of women. What I noticed is that Huda Beauty Easy Bake is a lot silkier than Laura Mercier but Laura Mercier is more matte. Although Huda Beauty is matte , it still gives a luminous effect.

Also since the Huda Beauty Easy Bake has a shade, it can color correct especially under your eyes, unlike Laura Mercier which just absorbs the color of your foundation.

The side by side comparison do not look very far apart BUT Huda Beauty edges out Laura Mercier in terms of being long-wearing. In my past experience, Laura Mercier is good but cannot last all day, unlike Huda Beauty which I tested recently for 7 hours and is very long wearing.

WINNER: Huda Beauty

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder vs Huda Beauty Easy Bake

The Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish is an award winning powder and is very well known for its lightness. It is in compact form so it is actually more convenient to carry. I have a really good experience using this as a setting powder for a year now so I thought it was a great idea to test the Charlotte Tilbury #2 for medium skin tone against the Huda Beauty Easy Bake.

In terms of look, Charlotte Tilbury has no reflective particles and was more luminous in finish giving you a blurred look. But what really surprised me though is that when I used it side by side with Huda Beauty Easy Bake, Huda Beauty was much lighter in feeling and application than Charlotte Tilbury!

WINNER: I was almost sure that Charlotte will win over Huda here but boy was I wrong! Huda Beauty wins again!

How to Attend a Makeup Masterclass like a Boss!

Most of you might have heard that I am holding my very first “Farah Makeup and Hair Masterclass” at the Galerie Hindam in Citywalk 2 Dubai on Friday, the 13^th of July at 6PM. Take notes

A lot of masterclass attendees take pictures, videos or record the audio of the masterclass. But I feel that the best way is still take notes of the information most useful to you. Don’t write everything that you are not focusing on the demo anymore, instead, only note down the most important info by putting in keywords. I feel this is more effective than recording the whole thing because it will make you remember the essential parts of the class.

Ask questions

If there is an opportunity for you to ask questions, then do it. Do not be shy. This is your chance to get the insights of a professional artist and learn beauty secrets. Sometimes, the information you need may not be presented unless you ask about it specifically.

Get product recommendations and test out what you learned

This is a great opportunity to ask the makeup professional about specific product names and recommendations. After all, the best way to test out what you have learned from the masterclass is to practice this on your own. A good tip is bringing extra cash with you to shop for recommended products in case you do not have these at home. It can be frustrating for example to learn a new makeup trick, but you cannot try it out because you don’t have that product with you.

Another option is saving up for a more comprehensive beauty makeup shopping tour in order to buy your products in bulk.

Step-up your learning

Masterclasses are a great way to expand your beauty knowledge and they are also a great way to learn more about more comprehensive classes offered by the makeup professional and get a great deal.

Of course, I had to battle the online crowd and add this to my Sephora shopping cart. At 174 AED, you may think that it’s expensive, but once you try it, I’m sure you’ll start to wonder how you’ve ever survived Dubai summer without this!

Unlike other loose powders that are only available in a few shades, Huda included 8 different shades. This really takes into account the diversity of women’s skin color, especially here in Dubai where you can find more than a hundred nationalities!

Farah’s Easy Bake Banana Bread Recipe

4 Super ripe bananas (almost black)

1 cup sugar

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 tsp cinnamon powder

½ tsp salt

1 tsp baking soda

3 eggs

½ cup vegetable oil

¼ cup water

Mash the bananas and set aside.

Combine the sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt and baking soda in a bowl.

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and add the vegetable oil, and water. Slowly combine the flour mixture and the mashed bananas and mix well.

Place on a bread loaf pan and bake on a preheated oven (190 degrees Celsius) for 30-40 minutes or until toothpick comes clean in the middle.

When we hear the term “drugstore makeup”, there is the impression that they can be less effective because of their affordable prices. However, it is interesting to note that even the most beautiful celebrities around the world use drugstore makeup products.

So yes, it is possible to rock that stunning makeup look using makeup brands you can buy from your corner pharmacy! Here are some of your fave celebs and their go-to brands.

Deepika Padukone

Deepi was launched as L’Oréal’s Global Ambassador in 2017 and she definitely looks awesome in all her makeup looks. In another Cannes photoshoot in 2018 called “Summer Escape” the Bollywood actress used a variety of L’Oréal makeup products for a casual yet trendy look.

Should You Use Drugstore Makeup?

Drugstore makeup products have their pros and cons. I personally prefer high-end brands especially for my bridal clients who need to have a long wearing makeup look.

However, for every day daily wear, drugstore makeup can be really amazing. Some of my personal drugstore makeup brands that I use myself are Maybelline, L’Oreal, Rimmel, Nyx and Max Factor.

I always enjoy weddings, especially because as a professional makeup artist and hair stylist, the brides spend the few hours before their wedding events with me so, I often form a personal connection with my brides. I love hearing these wonderful love stories and become witness to such lovely ceremonies and events. One of my brides who definitely had a wonderful story was Harleen.

Harleen and her groom are based in Canada and planned a destination wedding in Dubai. It’s amazing how she was able to pull off such lovely wedding events even if she is not locally based in UAE. Read on about her inspiring wedding journey.

Harleen & Maninder’s 2018 Dubai Destination Wedding

How It All Started

Harleen & Maninder: We’ve known each other since our childhood and we never really thought that we will ever be married to each other. After 10 years of not seeing each other, we met again on July 4, 2016 at Harleen’s brother’s marriage in Vancouver. There was an instant magical connection. This was the start of our beautiful journey.

The Courtship

Harleen & Maninder: We connected on social media and then after about 6 months, we met again in Toronto. We went to multiple dates. We enjoyed each other’s company.

We are both travel enthusiasts. We appreciate the simple and most important things about each other. Our world is complete when we have each other.

The Engagement

Harleen : On October 15, 2017, we got engaged. Maninder popped the question at Banff, Canada and I said YES! It was a very loving feeling as we were going to start a new beginning.

The Wedding Planning

Harleen & Maninder: Our wedding date was set on February 11, 2018. We chose Dubai to be the location for our wedding events. My husband and I planned our entire wedding. We handled every single detail. We were happy and at same time scared too that all the things will go as planned in Dubai as it was completely different destination for us. Dubai was unforgettable. The reason we chose Dubai was probably because of Atlantis the Palm, as the location is very beautiful.

The Wedding Events

Harleen & Maninder: Our Punjabi style Shagun ceremony was at Hotel Al Barsha. Our Sangeet was held at a beautiful dhow cruise with a Bollywood theme.

The Wedding ceremony is traditional Punjabi style was at Nanak Darbar Gurduwara Dubai.

Lastly, our reception was Arabic inspired which was held at the magnificent Atlantis The Palm.

The Makeup

Harleen : I searched for Farah on Instagram and YouTube. I really liked her flawless makeup style. I was very comfortable working with Farah and I really loved my makeup for both events. Farah is really talented. I loved when she also gave me honest suggestion on my jewelry.For wedding, I wanted a traditional style and for the reception I trusted Farah.

For wedding, she created Indian style bride. I loved the eye makeup and the makeup was good throughout the day.

For reception, it was Arabic style. It was different for me but I liked it as it went with my destination. My family loved the makeup especially my mom as she always dreamed of seeing me as bride and her opinion always mattered to me.

Every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day. There are a lot of beauty advice and beauty treatments that it can become confusing. What do you really need? What will really make a difference? Read on below for my personal tips!

The Ultimate Bridal Beauty Guide for Dubai Weddings

1. Facial Skin Care Routine

You have to start a disciplined facial skin routine ideally 6 months before the wedding, or at least 3 months if you don’t have much time. If you have less time, then start right now!

The formula is simple: Exfoliate once a week, then follow a cleanse, tone, treat, and moisturize twice a day! MOST IMPORTANT is to always put sunblock on your face, neck and hands before going out and when going wedding shopping to protect your skin from sun damage.

The products do not need to be expensive as long as you are dedicated in following a routine. Just look how these affordable two products SHOCKINGLY changed my skin in just 90 days.

2. Professional Beauty Treatments

If you have the budget for lasers, microdermabrasion and chemical peels, then do this 3-6 months before the wedding date because you do not want to risk redness or inflammation caused by these treatments. Schedule a hydrating, cleansing, mild facial one week before the wedding to get rid of the last-minute blackheads and get that glow

3. Hair Care

Oil your hair at least once a week to get it soft and smooth. Avoid trying a new haircut and treatment that may spell disaster!

If you are coloring your hair, do it two months prior, and make sure to schedule a roots appointment one week before the wedding.

4. Hair Removal

Depending on the method you want to remove your hair, you will need to follow a different timeline. Professional laser hair removal for example needs you to start consulting 2-3 months before the wedding date.

If you are going for waxing, the last wax session has to be at least 4 days before the wedding date. Why? This leaves enough time for your skin to calm down so you don’t have last minute redness, but at the same time, hair will not regrow.

I strongly don’t recommend shaving for this particular occasion as you may get regrowth in 24 hours and will be too much hassle.

5. Dental Care

Teeth whitening is one good option to get a perfect smile but do it one month prior to the big day so your teeth can look natural and not TOO white.

For veneers or other more complex treatments, this can be done 3 months before so you’re not stressed on time.

6. Makeup Artist and Hairstylist

Schedule this at least 3 months before the wedding or earlier to make sure you reserve your date! I encounter lot of brides who may be disappointed because I am already booked on their preferred date. So, if you already have a wedding date, MESSAGE ME now so I can pencil you into my calendar!

7. Mani and Pedi

You don’t want your nails to chip even before your big day. My personal recommendation is doing this 2 days before the wedding, not earlier than that. Also get a matching polish in case of emergency on your wedding day.

It is also useful to learn how to maintain your nails as you won’t have enough time post-wedding.

8. Massage and Body Treatments

You want to be relaxed and super chill on your wedding day so it is a good idea to schedule this 1-2 days before. If you are staying in a hotel, schedule this with the hotel’s spa a day before for a super lovely experience.

9. Have Lots of Water and Sleep

If you are the type who does not sleep the required 7-8 hours and drink at least 8 glasses of H20, then better start now. Believe me, this simple change will make so much difference to your skin and hair!

10. Diet and Exercise

I am not a believer of fad diets, my advice is if you need to lose weight, just cut down on eating carbs like sugar, rice, bread, and pasta. Also cut down on desserts, oily food and junk, processed food. If you stick to a healthy vegetable and protein diet plus 1 hour of cardio for at least three months… you will surely lose that muffin top. (And your skin will look so much better!)

Top Things A Dubai Bride Forgets On Her Wedding Day

In my last post, I discussed the top essential items for every Dubai bride, but this week what I will share are the stuff that brides usually forgets.

As a professional makeup artist and hairstylist, I have been witness to a lot of Dubai and UAE weddings. Being very close to the bride during the event, I have seen every imaginable disaster a bride may encounter especially the things they usually forget.

So, I will make it so much easier if YOU are a bride because this is a very comprehensive list of what you should not forget.

BEAUTY

Makeup Remover

This is very important because you need a good quality makeup remover to make sure your face is clean and free of product before you sleep. Here are my recommended best makeup removers available in the UAE.

Skincare Kit including sunscreen
Makeup Kit

Do not forget skincare kit including toner, moisturizer and serums. Also, even if you are hiring a makeup artist, bring your daily makeup kit of your own that you can use the following day.

Comb

If you are staying in a hotel, they have these small combs that cannot even fix your fringe so better to bring your own hair comb or brush. Also ask your makeup artist for the best way to remove your hairstyle after the ceremony.

Perfume

Do not bring the whole bottle of perfume. Put a small amount in a small atomizer or if you have a travel sized one, that’s better. This is especially if you are travelling as airport regulations don’t allow big bottles in carry on luggage.

Matching Nail Polish and Remover

Get a matching color of the nail polish of your manicure just in case there is an accidental chip during the event.

BATH ESSENTIALS

Whether you’re staying in a hotel, traveling for your honeymoon or staying in your new house, pack your clothes in advance as you will not have time to come back to the house and worry about this after the wedding. Do not over pack, but make sure you bring different outfits on your different events.

Splurge in extra nice brand-new sleepwear and undergarments. It does not necessarily need to be super expensive or lacy if you’re not comfortable with this. You must choose something with good quality, with soft fabric and something that fits well. Your honeymoon is not the time to wear your brother’s hand me down T-shirts and basketball shorts.

Also bring extra pair of everyday shoes/ sandals for the next day. Believe me, I’ve heard stories of brides who forgot to bring casual shoes and had to go to breakfast in their hotel slippers or wedding shoes!

Swimwear

If the hotel has a pool or Jacuzzi, swimwear will come handy.

Empty Duffel Bags / Garment Bags
Jewelry Travel Bag

Extra bags are always useful. Instead of bulky luggage, opt for foldable duffle bags or garment bags.

SUPER IMPORTANT

These are things that you may always think are obvious, but you may be surprised that a lot of people forget them! Identification cards, passports and travel documents must be kept in a safe place. You can ask your groom to safe keep the documents with you so both your docs are in same place and you can keep in the hotel safe. Credit cards are advisable but make sure to also bring cash. Smaller bills are also great for tipping.

10 Wedding Essentials for Every Dubai Bride

After getting engaged, it is very easy to get overwhelmed with all the wedding preparations. The planning of the wedding usually falls on the bride so even if she hires a wedding coordinator, it is indeed a very huge task.

If you are a soon to be bride, there are many things to plan for: the wedding venues, guest list, wedding rings, food and beverage, cake, flowers, photographers, video team, transportation and so much more. Because of all these, you might forget the most important part of the wedding which is YOURSELF.

So let me make it easier and share with you a list of 10 Wedding Essentials for Every Dubai Bride

1.The Wedding Dress

Every culture has a different tradition on the type of dress to wear but whatever style you choose, my advice is to keep it as a timeless, classic piece and make sure it fits you well.

In choosing a design, reflect if ten or twenty years from now, the dress will still look beautiful and not just because it is trendy or a popular celebrity wore it. One great example is the minimalistic Givenchy dress Prince Harry’s new bride, Hollywood actress Meghan Markle wore at her wedding. It is very reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn and very classy.

For South Asian brides, choose colors and designs suitable to your skin tone and body type. Even if you have the most expensive fabric and the most popular designer, if the dress does not fit you well, it will not look good in the photos.

2. Shoes

After choosing the perfect dress, you have to find the perfect shoes. Do not buy the shoes before buying the dress because that will only create a lot of shopping headaches for you.Again, go for the classic designs and choose a heel not less than two inches. The added height will certainly make you look more statuesque in pictures. However, do not force to walk on 5 inch heels unless you are used to these type of shoes. You will only look uncomfortable and your feet will not thank you at all.

Also consider the venue, like if you are having a wedding on the sandy beach, consider a square heel rather than a pointed heel so you don’t sink on the sand.

A great tip is for you to try to find a comfortable pair of flat shoes or slippers that you can change into during the party.

3. Accessories

Accessories will include your veil, head piece and jewelry. Whether you have heirloom jewelry from your family or if you need to buy new pieces, you need to make sure to try these accessories prior to the wedding day.

For Arab and South Asian brides, these headpieces and jewelry can be very heavy so you need to get used to the weight and adjust as required.

4. Makeup Artist and Hairstylist

After you wedding outfit, I believe that this is the most important element a bride should consider on her wedding day. I do understand that brides want to get value and discounts because a wedding can be expensive, however, I believe that spending for a professional makeup artist and hairstylist is so important. I listed down the reasons here on why a Dubai bride should hire one.

On your wedding day, all eyes are on YOU so as a professional artist I can help you make sure that your hair and makeup are flawless and exquisite on your big day.

5. Lingerie and Hosiery

A lot of brides get too much preoccupied with their wedding dress that they forget about the appropriate undergarments to wear. This is very important because there are certain fabrics and dress styles that will not look good without the correct type of undergarments. You do not want straps or seams to show on your wedding so make sure you spend time to shop for the correct lingerie.

6. Skincare Routine

To have amazing, beautiful skin on your wedding day, make sure to start your routine at the very least 3 months before the big day, or longer if you can. This includes facial treatments, laser hair removal, chemical peels, whitening treatments, among others.

NEVER avail a treatment very close to your wedding day because these treatments and medicines can cause redness , peeling or drying effect as your skin still adjust to their effectiveness. Doing these very close to your wedding day can be risky. Make sure you allot enough time.

Weeks before the wedding, make sure you (and your groom) get enough sleep and drink lots of water so you will look fresh and hydrated.

7. Manicure and Pedicure

Schedule a professional manicure and pedicure at least 1-2 days before your wedding. Avoid scheduling this on the same day so it will not add to the schedule and you will not be worrying about your nail polish not drying on time.

8. Bridal Purse with Emergency items

Many, many years ago before the invention of smartphones and SnapChat, brides walk down the aisle with only their flowers and nothing else. However, the modern bride has to think in advance where she should keep her phone and wallet during the party. Some brides leave these at the hotel room but for brides who cannot be parted with their gadgets, a small matching purse can be useful.

During the ceremony, assign one of your bridesmaids to hold this for you and only retrieve it at the party. The purse should be of the same colour theme as your dress. This is also extra useful especially if you have wedding guests who give you cash gifts, cheques or gift cards during the party.

What to put inside: Smartphone, Credit Card/Cash for emergencies, Paracetamol for headaches, tissues, retouch kit, mints and hand sanitizer.

9. Overnight/Honeymoon Bag

Because of all the wedding craziness, some brides forget that they are not coming home to their own house after the wedding. If you’re staying in a hotel for the night, prepare an overnight bag or if you are going straight to your honeymoon then pack your travel luggage in advance so you are not stressing about it after the wedding. 10. Extra, empty garment bags, shopping bags, or luggage.

Don’t you ever wonder why your clothes and shoes do not seem to fit your bags and luggage after you’ve already used them? Don’t forget to bring bags where you can comfortably store your wedding dress and shoes. Bring your jewelry bag to store your jewelry and don’t forget to put in the hotel safe. Empty bags and luggage will also be useful to store wedding gifts and favors you may receive during the wedding party.

Ask a family member to keep these for you if you’re traveling immediately after the wedding.

Best Dubai Photographer Approved Tips to Make You Look Beautiful in Your Wedding Photos

Having wonderful wedding photographs is very important for your Dubai wedding because they are the visual reminder of this beautiful day for years to come. After working in a lot of weddings and photographers, here are some tips I gathered from my own observation and professional photographers so you can look amazing in your wedding photos.

1. Try and test your outfit for comfort

Make sure to that your dress fits well, that you can walk properly in your shoes and that you try on any accessories beforehand.

For South Asian brides, make sure you try on the jewelry because earring, bangles, matha patti (headpieces) and other accessories can be really heavy so you have to get used to the feel of wearing them. This way you can make necessary adjustments so there will be no unwanted surprises.If you look uncomfortable during your wedding day because of your outfit, even the tiny stress will show on camera.

Another BONUS Tip: Keep an extra pair of flip flops or flat slippers to rest your tired feet. Don’t worry it won’t show under your dress.

2. Relax but don’t slouch

Just relax to avoid looking stiff in the photos.Do not worry too much about posing correctly or what angle you should face the camera to look better. Relax your shoulders, your face, and your hands. However, you should also be aware that you’re not slouching your back. Weeks prior to the wedding, practice having your back straight so the habit comes naturally on the big day.

3. Don’t force your smile, laugh out loud instead

Your wedding day can be long and stressful so I understand that even if people around you say “smile naturally”, it is not always easy to smile endlessly the entire day.

One great tip from a friend who work on TV is that instead of forcing a smile, try laughing out loud for a few seconds even if you’re not laughing at anything. It might sound ridiculous but it will feel really crazy that you will start genuinely laughing at yourself for real! That will instantly bring a different energy to your face so that when you try smiling again for the camera, there will definitely be a different sparkle in your eyes.

4. Enjoy every single moment

The best wedding photos are the candid, unguarded moments captured by the photographer. This can only be effective if you immerse yourself in the moment and feel the genuine range of emotions you feel without being overtly conscious.

Even when the photographer asks you to pose by the beach for example, instead of just standing and posing, why don’t you really take pleasure in walking hand in hand with the love of your life? This way when you look back at the photo, it will not be about how hot the weather is or how difficult it was to pose, rather, it will be a memory of that lovely afternoon at the beach with your groom. Remember, the best photos hold special memories that brings you back to those little moments that makes up your big day!

5. Make sure your makeup and hair are flawless

Full Review of Hylamide Booster C25 and The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5%+EGCG

Before I became obsessed with makeup products, I have always been a skincare fanatic. I would always research the most effective way to achieve great skin while battling with the UAE weather. I feel that the combination of Dubai’s extreme heat, super cold AC, sandstorms and work stress really takeS its toll on my skin so I need products that are really effective.

At the same time, it’s very important to discover products that will actually be able to cure these issues without emptying our bank accounts.

SEARCHING FOR THE RIGHT PRODUCT

I was searching for serums that will improve my skin texture and tone, plus lighten my dark circles in my eye area. After very careful research I found two products from TheOrdinary.com website. The first one is Hylamide Booster C25 (USD 45 for 30 ml) and the second one is The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG (USD10.70 for 30ml).

THE PROMISE

The Hylamide Booster C25 promises to offer a fast-tracked approach to a visibly radiant, healthy-looking skin tone. While the Caffeine Solution is meant to reduce dark circles in the eye area.

PURCHASE AND DELIVERY

I was not familiar with these products prior to researching them but one good point is that the products are very affordable compared to other serums available in the market. I purchased both products from the website because they deliver worldwide. The transaction was smooth and I received the product on my doorstep in 6 days.

HOW TO USE

I used the Caffeine Solution daily, morning and night. I used one drop of the solution for each eye area. When I applied the solution, I felt a slight cooling sensation on my skin.

For the Hylamide Booster, I use it morning and night, at least four times a week. During the first few days of usage my skin felt dry so I had to alternate the days of using it. I already have dry skin so I make sure to put on moisturizer after putting on the serum. But eventually, my skin got better and with the help of a moisturizer, my skin was able to adapt to the product. I also used a very mild exfoliating product as to not stress my skin.

THE RESULTS

Even if both products had really raving reviews, my expectations were not very high because as they say you have to try it to believe it. But after only 2 months, I was surprised to see remarkable results. Then, after 3 months (or 90 days) from my first use, the results are really unbelievable.

My skin has visibly improved. My skin texture is more plump looking and my skin tone looks more even-colored. The fine laugh lines on my face were reduced, you can barely see them now.

But the most amazing result is the improvement in the dark pigmentation in my eye area. After only 3 months, the dark areas lightened dramatically. Before, I had to use tons of color correcting concealers to even out these dark circles but now, this problem area is almost gone.The overall effect of my skin also looks less stressed and has developed a natural pinkish glow like that of a baby.
